Kids version

This quick recipe only takes 30 minutes to make and is perfect for a quick snack to feed those little munckins

This is a very basic recipe suitable for kids. But if you like a bit of spice in your chicken then do check out my other recipes where the chicken is more spicier ? Chicken Wrap’s are getting more and more common nowadays as they are very simple and quick to make. They are also very common as many people have turned to healthy eating. The chicken here is mainly grilled or oven baked and the wrap’s are accompanied with lots of fresh salad and sauces. You can substitute the wraps to whole wheat or spinach flavored tortillas for a more healthier version. You can also make these using pita bread or normal tawa paratha’s.

All you do is place your bread on a flat surface, place the chicken tikka on top and top it with your favourite salad, relish or sauce and it’s done. Wrap in parchment paper or foil and serve. I gave mine a Turkish feel to it so added Sumac and Onion Salad along with a Mint and Yogurt Raita. Oh it was divine!

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams Boneless chicken (cut into 1″ – 1.5″cubes)
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Green Chilli paste
  • 2 tbsp Greek Yogurt
  • 3 tbsp Tandoori Masala powder
  • 1/2 piece Juice of half lemon
  • 1/4 tsp Food color (red or deep orange)
  • 3 tbsp Oil (as required for cooking)

Prepare the Chicken Tikka Marinade

  • Add all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl along with the chicken cubes.
  • Cover and let this marinade for 15-30 minutes minimum or an hour in the fridge.

Cooking the Chicken Tikka

  • Heat a griddle pan with oil on medium flame and let the skillet sizzle a little
  • Take the chicken pieces out and skewer them into a metal skewers or wooden skewers (whichever you have). If your using wooden skewers, pre-soak them in water for 30 minutes so that they don’t burn.
  • Gently place the skewers on the griddle pan and let it cook gently until all sides are cooked and all pieces are lightly charred. Once cooked keep aside

Assembling the wrap’s

  • Lay your bread out onto a flat surface or place.
  • Grab your bread and slide the chicken skewers off the stick carefully.

  • Sprinkle a serving of cut tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber onto the chicken pieces.

  • Start rolling the bread tightly and wrap it using a parchment paper or foil and serve.

❗❗A few tips of making this:❗❗

? I used Greek yogurt but any thick yogurt is good. If you don’t have thick yogurt, strain your yogurt in a muslin cloth or strainer to remove the excess water. The less water the better.

? In the video I made plain chicken skewers and vegetable/chicken skewers (not video’d). You can add a variety of vegetable’s to your skewers like onions, mixed colored peppers, mushrooms. Place them after each chicken cube. The same method can be applied for BBQ’s, prepare these skewers in advance and cook as and when required.

? You can enhance the flavor of the chicken according to your spice palette. Add Chilli powder as an extra option. I kept these quite basic as I wanted the natural flavors and usually spice up the wraps with salads and sauces. Keeping them to an average spice level is safer to accommodate all guests.

? Drizzle with butter during the cooking process to ensure the meat remains juicy (optional)
